Living in The Cotswolds

Why Buy Property in the Cotswolds?

The Cotswolds offers gentle hillsides (wolds), river valleys, traditional pubs and superb restaurants, thriving communities, fantastic schools and superb communication links. It’s a great place to escape the rat race of London without having to compromise on lifestyle.

It’s a highly desirable, fashionable and a hugely popular place for people to invest in property. The Cotswolds is famous with not only national buyers, but also international buyers.

The Cotswolds have a quintessentially English charm.  Combining chocolate box charm with attractive Cotswolds stone properties in their famous honey colour limestone, J. B. Priestley once wrote of Cotswold stone:

“The truth is that it has no colour that can be described. Even when the sun is obscured and the light is cold, these walls are still faintly warm and luminous, as if they knew the trick of keeping the lost sunlight of centuries glimmering about them.”

The Cotswolds are considered to be one of the most beautiful areas in England. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), it is the largest AONB in the country.  The unique character and value of the Cotswolds is shown in the fact that five European Special Areas of Conservation, three National Nature Reserves and more than eighty Sites of Special Scientific Interest are within the Cotswolds AONB.

The Lifestyle

The Cotswolds is well known for its super walks with over 3,000 miles of footpaths including two national trail walks – The Cotswolds Way and a small section of the Thames Path. Miles of bridleways and country lanes provide picturesque routes for cycling and horse riding.

It’s an inspirational place for keen gardeners with places to visit such as Hidcote Manor Gardens, near Chipping Campden, Painswick Rococo Garden famous for its snowdrops and the region is home to two impressive arboretums, Batsford, one of the largest private collections of trees and shrubs in England, and Westonbirt.

The countryside offers fantastic opportunities for hunting and shooting as well as a superb range of cultural facilities, museums and areas of interest.

Best Places to Live in the Cotswolds

Where are the best places to live in The Cotswolds?

It’s a hard question to answer, because it depends entirely on your circumstances. A secluded country location may be perfect for one family, but could be completely inappropriate for other buyers. This is where the expertise of the property search agent comes in.

If commuting is your intention, remaining close to a train station could be an important consideration.

We’re very happy to discuss your options and offer expert advice according to your own unique requirements.

Country & Rural Property

In the middle ages, the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and left a heritage of superb village and country homes, churches, and other buildings. The Cotswolds has countless exceptional country houses, farms and estates making it one of the most desirable areas for people to buy and explains why many famous people have done just that.

The rich legacy of architecture in Cotswold stone is significant, with its simple and elegant architecture. But there is also something for everyone – cottages, contemporary converted barns, Georgian townhouses, practical farmhouses, grand country houses, farms and estates.

Many country properties can be sold off market – we can help buyers find and secure these properties.

Property Search Agents - The Benefits

Fewer Wasted Journeys

Many clients contact us when their own searches have proven fruitless or expensive.

The Cotswolds is an extremely competitive property market where independent and unbiased professional help is desirable to find and secure the property you wish to buy.

Time & Money

Property searching can take a great deal of time, energy and money if you don’t already live in the Cotswolds and know the local area.

A property search agent can help you identify the right property and location quickly, and help you make what perhaps is one the larger financial decisions you’ll make in life.

Local Buying Experts

Buying in an unfamiliar location can be a minefield. With local experts on your side, you’ll be armed with inside knowledge to make the best purchase choices for you and your family.

The Best Property Alway Goes Fast

It’s a misconception that a generally slower property market means it’s easier to buy the right property. In fact, the best property sells fast in almost any market, and holds its value better too. We can help you make those distinctions and conduct negotations on your behalf to achieve the right price.

As buying agents, we expect to find you the very finest property matching your requirements and budget.

Experienced, Objective Negotiators

When you find a home you want to purchase, the negotiation stage is key.

An impartial, detached and experienced negotiator can make a significant difference to final purchase price you pay.

Off Market Property

In the current climate, where some sellers are reluctant to put their property on the Cotswolds property market, it’s invaluable to use someone who has the right contacts and can put you in touch with properties that are not yet advertised for sale.

This is particularly true at the much higher end of the market.
